ODI endeavors to be a resource to identify diverse job candidates, and understand the needs and perspectives of youth who come from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds through discussion, mentorship programs, and studies.
As an industry, our ability to embrace new and diverse perspectives and to better reflect the audiences we serve will directly impact how far we will go—and how fast. At ODI, we’re taking the lead to create a more diverse and inclusive media industry.
We’re committed to bringing today’s industry leaders and innovators together with marginalized and underrepresented students as a means to effect real change for all parties.
Through monthly mentor series, social media content and conversations, special events, on-campus clubs, and a huge annual event, ODI strives to foster on-going conversations, promote mentorship, and garner insights that will positively shape the future of media, and those who make it happen.
Like everything in the world around us, media as both a concept and an industry is changing dramatically. From gatekeepers to technology, the audiences and customers, it’s all in flux. Even what it means to be a media company has changed when you consider that most companies engage in story-driven content marketing. This is why we here at ODI like to say we play at the crossroads of media, entertainment and technology. But even more importantly and also like so many other industries, true representation of the audiences our media serves is woefully lacking, both in content and within ranks of the industry itself. As an industry, our ability to embrace new and diverse perspectives and to better reflect the audiences we serve will directly impact how far we will go—and how fast.
